Anthropic has launched a beta version of its Claude AI assistant for integration with Microsoft Word, expanding its presence in enterprise productivity tools.

The new add-in, released on April 11, is designed for professionals who work extensively with documents, including legal practitioners, financial analysts and corporate teams involved in iterative drafting and review processes.

Claude for Word enables users to query documents and receive AI-generated responses with referenced sections. It also supports editing selected text while preserving formatting, numbering, and styles.

A key feature is its “tracked changes” functionality, which allows users to review, accept or reject AI-generated edits in a transparent manner, similar to traditional document review workflows.

The integration is currently available to Team and Enterprise users and is positioned as a tool to streamline document-heavy tasks such as contract analysis, memo drafting, and compliance reviews.

The development marks a further expansion of Claude’s capabilities beyond developer-focused applications, as Anthropic continues to integrate its AI tools across workplace environments. The company has recently introduced similar integrations for spreadsheet and presentation software.

The move also signals increased competition within productivity software, as AI firms seek to embed advanced capabilities directly into widely used platforms and workflows.
