Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic has raised $30 billion in a new funding round, more than doubling its valuation to $380 billion, underscoring strong investor appetite for AI companies.
The round was co-led by D. E. Shaw Ventures, ICONIQ and MGX, and included previously announced investments from Microsoft and Nvidia. Anthropic is also backed by Google and Amazon.
The company said its revenue run rate has reached $14 billion, with its coding-focused product Claude Code generating more than $2.5 billion annually. Enterprise usage now accounts for more than half of Claude Code revenue.
Anthropic’s recent launch of plugins for its Cowork AI agent contributed to volatility in global software stocks as investors weighed the disruptive potential of advanced AI tools.
The company has taken a distinctive stance on regulation, pledging $20 million to support U.S. political candidates who favour stronger AI oversight.
Meanwhile, Reuters previously reported that OpenAI could be valued at about $830 billion in talks with SoftBank over additional investment.
