Related to this, Nigerians have been cautioned to avoid making the same mistake by the body that regulates the telecom industry, the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), on numerous occasions.
The NCC claims that those who deal in and use pre-registered SIM cards represent a severe risk to our personal and communal safety since they utilise them to carry out nefarious actions like kidnapping and financial crimes in society while concealing their true identities.
Since it is a noble civic duty to do so and a deserving support to NCC’s attempt to eradicate such harmful practises from our society, it is advised to report violations of the SIM registration rules and guidelines to law enforcement organisations.
