Bayero University, Kano (BUK) is among ten Nigerian universities selected to benefit from a $38 million Information and Communication Technology (ICT) grant from the French Development Agency (AFD), aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s digital transformation and tertiary education reform efforts.

The grant is being implemented under the “Blueprint-ICT-Dev” initiative—a collaborative project between the Federal Ministry of Education and AFD, in partnership with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, through its “Digital Africa” initiative.

Announcing the development, the Nigerian University System ICT-Driven Project (NUSIDP) said the 10 universities were selected through a competitive process. The shortlisted institutions include Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), University of Jos, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, and Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, among others.

The grant will be used to fund digital infrastructure, learning platforms, and curriculum development tailored toward innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital skills across the selected institutions.
