ChatGPT has surpassed 900 million weekly users worldwide and now counts more than 50 million paying subscribers, reflecting the rapid mainstream adoption of artificial intelligence tools.

Parent company OpenAI said January and February marked its strongest subscriber growth on record.

The chatbot is widely used for drafting emails, generating reports, coding assistance, research and daily productivity tasks. OpenAI said user feedback and high engagement levels have contributed to improvements in reliability and response speed.

India has emerged as a key growth market. CEO Sam Altman previously said the country reached 100 million weekly active users, making it the platform’s second-largest user base after the United States.

The company attributed growth in India to its large youth population, widespread internet access and the availability of lower-cost subscription tiers.
