The initiative’s core objectives are to elevate regional cyber diplomacy, fortify defenses of critical infrastructure, combat cybercrime, and ensure data sovereignty.

In collaboration with esteemed partners, ECOWAS is orchestrating this milestone to mark the formal commencement of the ECOWAS Action Plan, designed to enhance regional cybersecurity capabilities and bolster resilience.Immediately following the launch on September 12, a two-day workshop focusing on confidence-building measures (CBMs) for regional cooperation will be conducted.
This workshop underscores the critical role of CBMs in strengthening cyber resilience within the West African region.The Joint Platform for Advancing Cybersecurity in ECOWAS was born during Germany’s G7 presidency and is guided by an endorsed Action Plan spanning from 2022 to 2025.
The Action Plan places a primary emphasis on fostering regional diplomacy, countering cybercrime, ensuring data sovereignty, and protecting vital infrastructure.
This initiative represents a significant stride toward a more secure and resilient cyber landscape in West Africa.
