Facebook Set to Get New Name, After 17 years 

TECHDIGEST – According to the Verge, social media giant Facebook plans to rebrand itself with a new name to reflect its future With roughly 2.89 billion monthly active users as of the second quarter of 2021.

A verge report has revealed that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will be discussing a name change during the company’s annual Connect conference on Oct. 28. The name change might even happen sooner as the company plans to expand its services beyond social media. In response, Facebook said it does not comment on “rumor or speculation.” when contacted by Reuters.

The Verge report added that the renaming would position Facebook’s social network app as one of many products under a parent corporation that will also manage groups like Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, and others.

According to the Verge, a possible name for the firm might be anything related to Horizon.

Facebook just changed its in-development VR game platform, previously known as ‘Horizon,’ to ‘Horizon Worlds.’ Google also changed its name, this is not the first time a large tech company has changed its name in order to extend its offerings.

In addition to its search and advertising businesses, Google created Alphabet Inc in 2015 as a holding company to manage a variety of other efforts, including its driverless car unit and health technology, as well as offering internet services to remote locations.
