Finally, Elon Musk Restores Trump’s Twitter Account
TECHDIGEST – Twitter has reinstated the account of controversial former US President, Donald Trump.
The account was restored after Elon Musk, Twitter CEO and new owner, posted a poll on Friday asking the platform’s users if Trump should be reinstated.
The final poll results on Saturday showed 51.8 percent voted in favour and 48.2 percent opposed the reinstatement. The poll had over 15 million votes.
“The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated,” Musk tweeted after the poll result.
“Vox Populi, Vox Dei.” — a Latin proverb meaning “the voice of the people is the voice of God.”
Trump’s Twitter account was banned in January 2021 following the post-2020 presidential election crisis, where a mob of his supporters attacked the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

At the time of filing this story, Trump was yet to tweet or comment on the reinstatement.
The development is coming days after the former president announced that he will seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
During his term at the White House, Trump used Twitter as a key messaging platform to engage with several controversial tweets and messages that were thought to be false and full of hate.
Trump is the target of multiple investigations into his conduct before, during and after his first term as president.
These include allegations of fraud by his family business, his role in last year’s attack on the US Capitol, his attempt to overturn the 2020 elections, and the stashing of classified documents at his residence at Mar-a-Lago.
