The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced a scheduled nationwide shutdown of its IT systems between November 28 and 30, 2025, affecting all online applications and digital infrastructure.
The agency advised taxpayers to expect service interruptions throughout the maintenance window, noting that the downtime is part of ongoing platform upgrades.
The announcement follows an FIRS tax compliance webinar held two days earlier, where officials clarified that small companies will be required to file returns from 2026—even though their corporate tax rate will remain at 0%.
Deputy Director Kehinde Kajesomo explained that small companies are no longer tax-exempt but will file self-assessments with zero payable tax, to improve reporting accuracy and compliance tracking.
