France Orders Apple to Terminate iPhone 12 Sales Over Radiation issues
TECH DIGEST- France has issued a directive to Apple, instructing the tech company to cease sales of the iPhone 12 due to concerns about excessive electromagnetic radiation emissions. Additionally, the French regulatory authority responsible for radio frequencies, ANFR, has mandated that Apple rectify existing iPhones to address this issue.
ANFR has advised Apple to explore potential solutions through software updates; however, if these prove ineffective, the company may be required to recall every iPhone 12 ever sold within France.

The World Health OrganiSation (WHO) has previously sought to assuage concerns surrounding mobile phone radiation. On its official website, WHO states that there is currently no evidence indicating that exposure to low-level electromagnetic fields poses a threat to human health.
The iPhone 12, initially launched in September 2020, continues to be available worldwide. In response to the ANFR’s directive, Apple has expressed its intent to challenge the regulatory review. The company contends that it has provided ANFR with laboratory results from both Apple and third-party sources, demonstrating the device’s compliance with relevant regulations governing radiation levels on a global scale.
