Google has opened applications for the 10th cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa, continuing its push to support artificial intelligence–driven startups on the continent.
In a statement released on Thursday, the company said applications will remain open until March 18, 2026. The 12-week programme is a hybrid, AI-first accelerator targeted at Series A startups that are either based in Africa or building solutions focused on the African market using AI and machine learning.
Google said selected startups will receive technical support, access to its AI expertise, mentorship from experienced professionals, and opportunities to connect with peers and industry leaders across its global network.
According to the company, the accelerator is designed to help startups strengthen their products, scale responsibly, and convert advanced research into practical, real-world applications.
Speaking on the new cohort, Google’s Head of Startup Ecosystem Africa, Folarin Aiyegbusi, said Africa’s technology ecosystem is shifting toward deeper, more research-driven innovation.
“Africa’s tech landscape is seeing a vibrant shift toward deep tech innovation,” Aiyegbusi said. “For Class 10, we are focusing on the potential of AI to drive health and societal benefits.”
Since the programme launched in 2018, Google said it has supported more than 180 startups across 17 African countries, which have collectively raised over $350 million and created more than 3,700 direct jobs.
The company noted that this year’s focus reflects growing interest in applying AI to sectors such as healthcare, climate, agriculture, and other areas with broad societal impact.
Last year, six Nigerian startups were selected for the ninth cohort of the accelerator, making Nigeria one of the most represented countries in the programme. The cohort included AI-driven startups from Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and South Africa, working across fintech, healthtech, logistics, and agritech.
