Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event this week was dominated by the unveiling of the iPhone Air, its thinnest smartphone yet. But beyond the headlines, the tech giant also revealed several features and products that could reshape the iPhone experience in the months ahead.
1. A thin phone built to bend back: The iPhone Air may be the slimmest iPhone ever, but Apple says it is also its sturdiest. Built to withstand bending pressure, the device returns to shape when stressed. It also carries Apple’s top-end processor, signalling a category between the base model and Pro series.
2. AirPods Pro 3 debut new tips: The third-generation AirPods Pro feature redesigned tips made of a silicone–foam hybrid. Apple claims the new material improves fit and significantly enhances noise cancellation, though users may need time to adjust to the unfamiliar feel.
3. Blood pressure monitoring on Apple Watch: Available on the new Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3, the feature combines sensors with a system-in-package (SiP) chip to track blood flow. Using machine learning, it monitors signals of chronic hypertension over 30 days, but will not be rolled out to older models.
4. iPhone 17 Pro cooling breakthrough: A redesigned vapour chamber cooling system allows the iPhone 17 Pro to deliver 40% better sustained performance. The new A19 Pro chip has been repositioned for more efficient heat dissipation — a boost for mobile gaming and other high-demand tasks.
5. AirPods now translate offline: Apple has added live translation to the new AirPods Pro. The feature, which interprets conversational intent rather than just words, supports complex languages such as German and can run offline with only the iPhone in a pocket.
