Kowgo Launches In Abuja, Set To Bridge Financial Gap For Women Businesses, SME

TECH DIGEST – In an unprecedented development, an application that would aid market access, ensure financial inclusion, ensure access to savings and loans inclusive of a concise business records for women owned businesses and small and medium scale enterprises, Kowgo(Knowledge On The Go) has been launched in Abuja.

The launching event which took place at the Abuja Chambers of Commerce and Industry had in attendance different key personalities cut across the globe including traditional leaders, corporate sector leaders, government agencies among others.

The initiative by the Women Arise Development and Humanitarian Initiative and Abuja Chambers of Commerce and Industry was commended by participants at the event as timely and a key intervention. At the event, the President of the Abuja Chambers of Commerce and Industry Dr Al-Mujtaba Abubakar noted that the Kowgo application would help women in digital applications at their market and revolutionalize how women do business, he also noted that this would facilitate wider content to the outside world.

Dr Al-Mujataba noted emphatically that the initiative is a partner in progress with the Abuja Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The Nigerian export promotions Council Chief Executive Officer, Segun Awolowo who was represented at the event noted that the council is ready to partner towards successful deployment of the application into the market space and ensuring impact.

“We will continue to collaborate and work with you” he told the Women Arise Development and Humanitarian initiative.

Traditional rulers also present at the event commended the innovation, noting that it would go a long way in market development and market sustainability and at such they are in firm support of Kowgo. Commenting on the Kowgo application, the Commonwealth Women Business network lauded the development, acknowledging this is a testament to increasing roles played by women in the society.

“We appreciate this milestone, women are fast rising around the world, showing resilience, we are deeply inspired by pioneers. We are happy at this initiative and development for the community, this is a huge vision coming to fulfillment. The Kowgo app is an audacious action and a big development” the Commonwealth Women Business Network noted.

The United Nations Women in Business also commended the initiative noting that the body remains committed to promotion of women and women’s right. Other speakers at the event including from United States of America and other countries lauded the initiative while promising support for the unique move. The event also featured Panel discussion on Kowgo, Dance Presentation, Music and award presentation.

The Kowgo team also promised to work constantly round the clock to ensure more incorporation for women and women businesses.

The Kowgo application which is accessible on google play store is designed to enable women business owners and SME access loans and keep business records.

The Application also encourages financial inclusion and ensures market access. It was also confirmed at the event, the seamless and easy use of the Kowgo application, capping up commendations at the launch.

The Women Arise Development and Humanitarian Initiative is aimed at accelerating Socio-economic growth through empowerment of women, girls and vulnerable groups.

The initiative was established to help provide appropriate platforms and management systems that support, harness and expand development opportunities that enable beneficiaries to progressively grow their entrepreneurial capacities.
