Meta has announced that it is rolling out an AI assistant to Facebook Dating in a bid to help users find more tailored matches and reduce what it calls “swipe fatigue.”

The chatbot will allow users to refine their profiles or ask for specific matches, such as “a Brooklyn girl in tech.” The company has also introduced a new feature, Meet Cute, which delivers users a weekly “surprise match” chosen by its algorithm.

Meta said matches among adults aged 18 to 29 on Facebook Dating have grown by 10% year-on-year, with hundreds of thousands of users in that demographic creating profiles each month. Still, the platform remains small compared to rivals like Tinder, which has about 50 million daily active users, and Hinge with 10 million.

AI features have become a staple across the dating app industry. Match Group, which owns Tinder, Hinge, and OKCupid, has invested over $20 million in AI, adding tools such as AI-powered photo selection and profile-prompt improvements. Newer entrants like Sitch have also leaned on AI to stand out.
