Google has released its 2025 Year in Search report for Nigeria, with Senator Natasha Akpoti emerging as the country’s most searched personality. Footballer Eberechi Eze ranked second, reflecting widespread public interest in politics, entertainment, and sports throughout the year.
According to Google, the annual report highlights the topics, individuals, and events that generated the biggest spikes in curiosity among Nigerians. The company noted that political developments strongly shaped search activity, with Akpoti driving the most interest among public figures.
“This year, Nigerians used Search to stay on top of a fast-moving news cycle,” Google said, adding that Akpoti’s prominence underscores how influential political discourse remained in 2025.
The report identifies leading trends across entertainment, lifestyle, questions, and news queries, offering a snapshot of the issues that dominated Nigeria’s online conversations.
