NCAC, NITDA Forge Strategic Partnership to Revolutionize Nigeria’s Creative, Digital Ecosystems
The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have announced a groundbreaking partnership to bridge Nigeria’s cultural and creative industries (CCI) with the country’s thriving digital and innovation ecosystems.
This collaboration was formalized during a high-level meeting between NCAC’s Director-General, Mr. Obi Asika, and NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE, along with their respective leadership teams, at NITDA’s headquarters in Abuja.
The alliance aims to harness the strengths of both agencies to foster growth, innovation, and digital transformation in Nigeria’s cultural and creative sectors.
Key Initiatives Under the Partnership
ICE Capacity-Building Program Expansion
NCAC’s flagship Innovate, Create, Empower (ICE) program will now be extended to 1,000 locations nationwide, with a goal of training 2 million Nigerians by 2027. NITDA will play a pivotal role by providing digital labs and training facilities, ensuring the program reaches its ambitious target.
Development of Digital Platforms
Through partnerships with private sector stakeholders, NCAC is advancing digital platforms for cultural inventory, influencer marketing, subscription video-on-demand (SVOD), and e-commerce. NITDA will bolster these efforts by offering cloud services and leveraging local distribution networks.
Infrastructure Support
NCAC has formally sought NITDA’s assistance to equip its headquarters and zonal offices with computers, tablets, podcast studios, and digital labs, marking a significant step towards full digital transformation.
Collaboration on Events and Initiatives
The partnership will see NCAC mobilizing its creative communities for participation in NITDA’s flagship events, including the highly anticipated GITEX Nigeria 2025.
Launch of BuyNigeria.ng
A joint initiative to pilot BuyNigeria.ng, an e-commerce platform that will bring Nigerian markets online, was also announced. The project’s initial phase will target major markets in Kano, Lagos, Aba, and Abuja, enhancing visibility and accessibility for artisans and traders.
Integration of Digital Literacy in Talent Platforms
NCAC’s Nigeria’s Got Talent program will integrate NITDA’s digital literacy training and gamified learning systems, creating new opportunities for creatives in a tech-driven landscape.
Joint Implementation Committee
To ensure seamless execution of these initiatives, a joint committee comprising directors from both agencies has been established.
Speaking on the partnership, Kashifu Inuwa described it as a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s creative and digital sectors. “This collaboration is a testament to our shared vision of leveraging technology to unlock the potential of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage,” he said.
Obi Asika echoed these sentiments, highlighting the transformative potential of the partnership.
“By integrating the creative and digital economies, we are charting a new course for Nigeria’s cultural and creative industries,” he noted.
This historic collaboration represents a significant step toward merging Nigeria’s cultural heritage with cutting-edge technology, unlocking unprecedented opportunities in both sectors and cementing Nigeria’s position as a global hub for creativity and innovation.
