Netflix offers $1m scholarship fund to film, TV students in Nigeria, WECA
TECHDIGEST – Netflix is accepting applications from film and television students from across Nigeria, rest of West and Central Africa (WECA) for its Creative Equity Scholarship Fund (CESF). The streaming. The streaming giant announced the $1m scholarship in a statement this week.
Selected applicants will have the opportunity to study at institutions in Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, and Gabon, among others supported by the CESF, which was launched in 2021 and is expected to various initiatives over the next five years with the goal of building a strong, diverse pipeline of creatives around the world.

The scholarship fund will support ambitious creatives from West and Central African countries to obtain official qualifications and training.
Netflix said the scholarship fund will cover beneficiaries’ tuition, housing, study materials, and living expenses at selected partner schools in the 2022 academic year.
To qualify for the scholarship, Netflix said applicants must be citizens of West and Central African and must be living in their countries. They must have also been admitted to study film & TV-related disciplines at one of its partner institutions.
Local partner institutions are Institut Philippe Maury de l’audiovisuel et du Cinéma (IPMAC-Groupe EM GABON-UNIVERSITE), Gabon; Institut Supérieur des Métiers de l’Audiovisuel (ISMA), Bénin; National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), Ghana; National Film Institute (NFI) Jos, Nigeria; and Pan-Atlantic University, Nigeria.
