The Federal Ministry of Youth Development and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) have jointly unveiled a training programme designed to equip over 5,000 Nigerian youths with skills in digital literacy, data protection, and privacy, with a goal to prepare them as certified Data Protection Officers (DPOs).

Ambassador Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development, hailed the initiative as a strategic step toward youth empowerment. NDPC’s CEO, Dr Vincent Olutunji, explained the programme’s alignment with President Tinubu’s broader policy goals on job creation and digital readiness.

The launch event included key dignitaries such as the House Committee on ICT & Cybersecurity Chairman, Adedeji Stanley, and the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary. Both institutions emphasized the rising demand for DPO roles in Nigeria’s expanding data ecosystem.
