Nigeria Ranks 72nd in Global AI Readiness, Leads in Sub-Saharan Africa
Nigeria has been ranked 72nd on the 2025 Global Government AI Readiness Index, reflecting the country’s current standing in adopting and implementing artificial intelligence technologies within government operations.
Experts say that while Nigeria has shown commitment to digital transformation, significant investments in AI education, infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks are essential to improve its ranking and competitiveness on the global stage.
The index, which assesses nations based on their AI strategy, infrastructure, governance, and skills readiness, highlights areas where Nigeria is making progress as well as challenges it must overcome to fully leverage AI for public service improvement.
