The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) says Nigeria is targeting 95 per cent digital literacy by 2030, with an interim goal of 70 per cent by 2027.
NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa disclosed this at the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) training awards programme, stating that 54,377 civil servants have enrolled in the initiative, with over 40 per cent completing their courses.
The programme, implemented in partnership with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, aims to equip public servants with foundational digital skills to improve service delivery.
Inuwa said the government plans to transition ministries and extra-ministerial departments to paperless operations by December 2025.
At a separate event, NITDA presented ₦3.5 million and eight laptops to corps members serving as Digital Literacy Champions under its partnership with the National Youth Service Corps.
The agency said more than 45,000 civil servants per course have enrolled across four foundational modules under the DL4ALL Workforce Programme, with completion rates ranging between 38 and 44 per cent.
NITDA said the next phase of the programme will focus on role-based digital skills, certification pathways and stronger institutional monitoring as part of efforts to modernise the public service.
