NIMC Reports Progress on NIN Enrollment
TECH DIGEST– The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced that over 109 million National Identification Numbers (NINs) have been issued to Nigerians and legal residents, with 20% representing children’s enrolments.

The commission, while commemorating the National Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Day, emphasized its dedication to safeguarding the National Identity Database (NIDB). NIMC DG, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, assured the public of robust security measures in place to protect citizens’ data.
To expand NIN coverage, particularly among children, NIMC is collaborating with UNICEF and the National Population Commission. The agency plans to intensify enrollment efforts in rural areas.
Additionally, NIMC revealed plans to launch an improved General Multipurpose Card (GMPC) to support government initiatives aimed at enhancing social welfare.
