NIS Unveils Plans for Enhanced Border Security

TECH DIGEST- In a significant move towards bolstering border security and migration management, Caroline Adepoju, the newly appointed Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), has revealed plans to deploy state-of-the-art electronic gates (e-gates) and advanced logistics at airports and various entry points across the country.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday, Adepoju outlined the NIS strategy to enhance the movement of passengers at selected airports through the deployment of electronic gates. The pilot scheme aims to streamline the immigration process for travellers entering and exiting the country.

Adepoju emphasized that the implementation of electronic gates is part of the NIS’s vision to facilitate seamless travel for passengers.

Additionally, Adepoju unveiled plans to deploy modern facilities across the nation’s land, air, and sea borders, emphasizing the importance of proper monitoring and documentation of individuals moving into and out of the country. She reassured the public that the NIS is dedicated to continuous training of personnel and equipping them with the necessary logistics to carry out their duties effectively.
