NITDA Inaugurates GITEX 2022 LOC To Explore Global Support For Nigerian Tech Innovators
TECHDIGEST – The Nigerian government has officially unveiled its plans for this year’s GITEX Global with the inauguration of a GITEX 2022 Local Organizing Committee (LOC) charged with ensuring the country is adequately prepared for the five days event holding in Dubai, UAE from October 10 -14.
GITEX is one of the world’s most important technology gatherings of governments, global enterprises, technology leaders, and startup innovators.
The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, urged the LOC members to see the task as a national assignment even as he reiterated that NITDA sees GITEX as a strategic window to provide additional exposure to Nigeria’s startup ecosystem as well as open opportunities for other stakeholders in government and private sector to leverage diverse business advantages and partnerships.
This has become imperative with Nigeria’s increasing shift to digital economy and support for its thriving startup ecosystem.
He said this year, Nigeria’s participation will focus on promoting and getting the exposures and deals for Nigerian ventures.

The LOC members are a mix of stakeholders from the public and private sectors. They include those from the Nigeria Investment Promotion Council ( NIPC), Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), National Data Protection Bureau (NPDB), Cherry Brooks Ltd, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Smartweb, and Domineum Blockchain Solutions Ltd among others.
“Consider this as an opportunity to join in achieving specific goals for the country” said the NITDA boss. He was represented by Director, Corporate Research and Strategy, Dr Aristotle Onuma.

He said NITDA by virtue of its mandate is committed to promoting indigenous enterprises focusing on technology innovations to resolve local challenges in global arenas such as the GITEX Global.
The NITDA boss said the committee members reflect NITDA’s believe in multi-stakeholders collaborations adding that the LOC is primarily saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that Nigeria’s investment potentials are exposed to the global IT community during this year’s event.
GITEX plays a significant role in helping individuals, enterprises and governments from over 170 countries to pitch their ideas and businesses for investments and partnerships.
It is the largest gathering of governments from all over the world and also the world’s biggest startup event.
GITEX Global 2022 is six events in one including the AI Conference, North Stars (Global future Stars), Future Blockchain Summit, Fintech Surge, Tech Marketing Mania, and Global DevSlam.
Conferences’ topics for 2022 include:
The rise of predictive clouds, data Ops to Xops , Edge Computing and Business Intelligence Adoption, and Net Greener AI for Data Centers among others.

The LOC received testimonial from one of the beneficiaries of NITDA’s participation at GITEX, CEO, Cherry Brooks, David Olumuyiwa Dada. He said his attendance of the Africa Investment Forum (AIF) in 2016 GITEX by NITDA and the DWTC led to the formation of a technology enterprise in France with a Pan African focus majorly managed by a Nigerian team inspired by the proceedings of the AIF.
He urged the NITDA to keep track of its success stories out of GITEX in terms of companies who have inked deals at its instance at GITEX by keeping track of such companies through followups.
