NITDA Launches Digital Literacy Training for Federal Civil Servants
National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in partnership with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, has introduced a comprehensive Digital Literacy Training and Certification programme.
The three-day workshop, hosted at the e-Government Training Centre within the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), is designed to equip 69,000 federal civil servants with essential digital skills. Conducted weekly, the programme aims to cover the entire workforce within nine months, underscoring its ambitious scope.
During the launch, NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, highlighted the initiative’s alignment with the government’s goal of achieving 70% digital literacy in Nigeria by 2027. This target, he noted, is a cornerstone of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to promote innovation, improve governance, and drive inclusive economic growth.
“The critical role of digital literacy in fostering effective governance, innovation, and economic transformation cannot be overstated,” Abdullahi said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to building a digitally skilled workforce.
The programme also reflects NITDA’s broader mandate to enhance human capital development within Nigeria’s public sector. By equipping civil servants with the tools to implement digital solutions, the initiative is expected to significantly improve governance and service delivery across the country.
As Nigeria continues to position itself as a global hub for technology and innovation, the training underscores the importance of investing in digital capacity-building to support the nation’s aspirations in the digital economy.
