NITDA Reaffirms Commitment to Digital Literacy, Innovation at S24 Conference

The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, has reiterated Nigeria’s resolve to deepen digital inclusion and strengthen the role of media in national development.

Inuwa, represented by the Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations, Hajiya Hadiza Umar, delivered a goodwill message at the S24 Conference in Abuja. The event, themed “When Media Becomes a Force for Development,” brought together media professionals, policymakers, and technology stakeholders to explore how the media can drive sustainable growth and innovation.

He noted that NITDA remains committed to building a vibrant digital economy anchored on inclusivity, innovation, and data sovereignty.

The DG restated NITDA’s ambitious digital literacy targets of increasing national digital skills penetration to 70% by 2027 and 95% by 2030, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s drive for economic transformation through technology.

Describing the media as the “ultimate digital platform,” Inuwa highlighted its role in leveraging digital innovation to accelerate socio-economic development, enhance governance, and foster national cohesion.

“The convergence of modern media and emerging technologies presents a unique opportunity to shape Nigeria’s future. Every story told and every content created must contribute to our collective digital prosperity,” he said.

The S24 Conference provided a platform for idea-sharing and stronger collaboration across sectors. Participants emphasized the need for responsible storytelling and impactful communication to propel Nigeria’s digital transformation.

NITDA reaffirmed its readiness to continue partnering with the media and other stakeholders to expand digital literacy, strengthen innovation ecosystems, and ensure no citizen is left behind in the country’s journey toward a fully digital society.
