The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has renewed and deepened its collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) to accelerate digital capacity building and skills development across Nigeria.
During a meeting with the UNITAR delegation in Abuja, NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to equipping Nigerians with globally competitive digital skills in line with its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0).
Abdullahi noted that partnerships with global institutions such as UNITAR are crucial to developing a resilient and future-ready digital workforce. He cited NITDA’s ongoing initiatives — including the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) project, the Digital Transformation Technical Working Groups (DTTWGs), and the Talent Hunt Programme — as part of the agency’s comprehensive strategy to strengthen Nigeria’s human capital base and promote innovation-driven growth.
Commending NITDA’s approach, Mr. Sadiq Rabiu, Special Assistant to the President on Capacity Building, described the agency’s programmes as well-structured and aligned with national priorities. Similarly, Ms. Mihoko Kumamoto, Director at UNITAR, praised NITDA’s commitment to inclusivity, sustainability, and responsible innovation.
Both organisations expressed optimism that the collaboration will deliver transformative outcomes in digital education, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and governance — further positioning Nigeria as a leader in digital transformation across Africa.
