OpenAI has launched a new generation of apps integrated directly into ChatGPT, allowing users to interact with third-party services through natural language. Announced on Monday, the update enables developers to build apps using the new Apps SDK, currently available in preview.
Users can access apps such as Spotify, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Booking.com, and Zillow directly within ChatGPT by mentioning them in conversation. For example, saying “Spotify, make a playlist for my party this Friday” surfaces the app with relevant tools inside the chat.
The feature is now available to all logged-in ChatGPT users outside the European Union on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. OpenAI described the rollout as the start of a new interactive experience that blends chat with app-based interfaces, allowing users to create playlists, design slides, or browse real estate listings without leaving the chat.
Developers can start building immediately, with monetization options expected later this year.
