The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the launch of the 2025/2026 Technical Teachers Training Programme (TTTP) — a fully funded, one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) aimed at upskilling teachers in public secondary schools who handle technical and vocational subjects nationwide.

The initiative, unveiled by the Ministry’s Department of Technology and Science Education in Abuja, is part of renewed efforts to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria.

Under the scheme, eligible teachers must be currently employed in public secondary technical schools, have at least five years remaining until retirement, and be medically fit. The training will cover key areas such as Technical Education, Vocational Education, Building Technology, Business Education, Woodwork, Home Economics, Metalwork, Agricultural Education, Automobile, Computer Science, and Electrical/Electronics.

Applications open 8 July 2025 and close 21 July 2025. The pilot cohort will run in collaboration with six institutions:

  • Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State

  • University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State

  • Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State

  • University of Benin, Edo State

  • Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State

  • Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo State

The TTTP is designed to modernize teaching standards and ensure that graduates of Nigeria’s technical schools are equipped with skills that meet global industry demands.
