Samsung on Friday launched its Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone in South Korea, drawing long lines outside flagship stores as consumers sought to purchase the company’s first tri-folding device. The handset unfolds twice to reveal a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display designed for productivity, blurring the line between smartphone and compact tablet.
The device integrates Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI features, including Photo Assist and Sketch to Image, and introduces new engineering improvements such as a reinforced hinge system and safeguards designed to prevent improper folding—addressing durability issues seen in earlier foldables.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with 16GB of RAM and a 5,600mAh battery. It includes a 200MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 10MP telephoto lens and dual 10MP selfie cameras. It supports Samsung DeX with multitasking for up to three apps on its 10-inch display.
With its futuristic design and enhanced AI features, the Galaxy Z TriFold is being positioned as one of Samsung’s most ambitious hardware releases, though its bulkier form factor may limit its mainstream adoption.
