TECH DIGEST – Following the suspension of Twitter operations on Friday by the Federal Government, TechDigest.ng has uncovered an alternative to access the microblogging site, Twitter, without the use of Virtual Private Network (VPN).
Millions of Twitter users, on Saturday, woke up to encountering difficulty in accessing their Twitter handles while some navigated the hurdle using the VPN.
This followed the suspension of the microblogging site which was made known by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Friday.
Lai Mohammed said the Federal Government was forced to act because of “the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence”.
Also, telecommunications companies in Nigeria including MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9Mobile, on Saturday, started blocking access to Twitter.
The telcos said they received a directive from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to block access to Twitter in the country following the suspension by the Federal Government on Friday.
However, the good news is that you can still access Twitter without the use of a VPN.
