SMART TECH TIPS: 5 WhatsApp Features You Might Be Missing By Fom Gyem
WhatsApp has evolved far beyond simple messaging, offering a range of features that enhance communication and organisation. Are you taking full advantage of its capabilities? Here are five interesting features you might not be using yet:
1. Voice Note Transcription: Read Your Audio Messages
In situations where listening to voice notes isn’t convenient, WhatsApp’s transcription feature comes to the rescue. This handy tool converts voice notes into text, allowing you to quickly scan the message.
To enable it, go to WhatsApp Settings and select Chats, then enable voice message transcripts.
2. Enhanced Media Editing: WhatsApp has also changed the way you send photos and videos. Previously, you could edit before sending, but now it just sends. If you carefully look at the bottom left, you will see a pen icon. Tap the icon to open the editing window, where you can crop, annotate, and adjust your media before sharing.
3. Contact Lists: Organise Your Chats
WhatsApp’s list feature allows you to categorise your contacts into custom groups, simplifying communication and organisation. Just swipe down your WhatsApp chat page, and you will see it; to add yours, use the plus icon; you can add any contacts to the list
4. Personalised Chat Themes: This feature allows you to set unique backgrounds for individual chats, making it easy to distinguish between different conversations.
How to change chat themes: Open the desired chat, tap the three-dot menu at the top, select Wallpaper & Theme (or similar wording depending on your version), and then choose a theme that suits your preference.
5. Video Note Effects: WhatsApp now offers a variety of filters, backgrounds, and other creative tools to make your video messages more engaging. When recording a video note, tap the wand icon and explore the available filters, backgrounds, and effects.
There are other features like tagging individuals in your status updates to directly notify them of your post and also sharing music on some supported devices.
