The Android version arrives more than a year after Adobe introduced Premiere for iPhone and iPad. The free app allows users to split, trim, crop and merge footage, adjust playback speeds and add text, effects, music and voiceovers.

Users can also export unlimited 4K videos without watermarks and choose the dimensions required for different platforms without paying for the basic editing features.

More advanced generative artificial intelligence tools are available through in-app purchases.

The app is available on devices running Android 13 or later, with at least 5GB of RAM.

Adobe is positioning the Android launch toward mobile-first creators, particularly in markets such as India, where the company says creators increasingly rely on smartphones to produce vlogs, tutorials, podcasts and social media content.

“Today, we’re excited to share that Adobe Premiere on mobile is now available on Android for free,” Diksha Kuhar, Director of Product Marketing for Premiere mobile at Adobe, said in a statement.

Kuhar said the Android launch would put Adobe’s video editing tools in the hands of more creators who produce content primarily from mobile devices.

The release expands the reach of Adobe’s mobile editing platform as video production increasingly shifts from desktop computers to smartphones.
