Instagram Removes Hashtag Following

TECH DIGEST- Instagram has made a significant change to its platform, eliminating the ability for users to follow specific hashtags. This move, aimed at curbing the proliferation of spam and irrelevant content, has sparked discussions among users and industry experts.

While the intention behind this decision is understandable, it undoubtedly impacts the way users discover and engage with content. Hashtags have long been a cornerstone of social media, facilitating the formation of online communities and enabling users to connect with like-minded individuals.

With the removal of hashtag following, users will now have to rely on the Explore tab to discover relevant content. While this feature offers a personalized experience, it may not always provide the same level of targeted discovery as hashtag following.

This shift in Instagram’s strategy highlights the evolving landscape of social media platforms and the constant tension between user experience and content moderation. As platforms adapt to new challenges, it is crucial to strike a balance between innovation and community engagement.
