TECHDIGEST – As part of ameliorating the hardship of flood victims in Jigawa State last year, Qatar Charity and Inuwa Foundation, have donated food items to about 1,000 people, affected by the natural disaster, in the State.

Items distributed include spaghetti, rice, semovita, beans and oil.

The foodstuffs, PRNigeria learnt, were distributed yesterday at the Inuwa Foundation Head Office, situated at Garun Gabas Road in Hadejia Local Government Area of the State.

600 beneficiaries were selected from the Hadejia Senatorial District (eight local governments), where 60% of the victims come from, while the rest 400 were from eight other Jigawa local governments affected by last year’s flood.

In his remark, the Chairman of Mallam Inuwa Foundation, Dr. Hussaini Yusuf Baban, said Hadeija was the most hit by the disaster, hence it has the highest number of beneficiaries.

He said that they were careful in the selection process so that the right people will benefit.

“We consulted Local Government Chairmen, religious leaders and other stakeholders in the selection. Anybody that benefited here is a victim of this flood either at his home or farm,” he said.

The beneficiaries appreciated Inuwa Foundation and Qatar Charity for coming to their aid.

TECHDIGEST – No fewer than 500 persons, comprising men and women including persons with disabilities, have received various empowerment tools donated by the Qatar Foundation in collaboration with Mallam Inuwa Foundation in Jigawa State.

The Foundation is an initiative of Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director of the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA.

The presentations of the empowerment items were made at Inuwa Foundation Headquarters in Hadejia local government area of Jigawa State on Monday.

According to the Chairman of the Mallam Inuwa Foundation, Dr. Hussaini Yusuf Baba, 200 women were empowered with sewing machines, while another 300 received grinding machines.

“We also gave out three computers, 13 Carpentry tools and 13 motorcycles to some disabled persons.

“This is part of the foundation vision of supporting people especially the needy with the support of Qatar Charity,” he said.

He added that the foundations had organised eye medical outreach that provided surgery and medications for people with eyes problem in Jigawa.

He expressed gratitude to the Qatar Foundation for its immense support particularly Sheikh Khalid Al Dohawy who took participated actively in the programme.

On his part, Jigawa Deputy Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi, who represented the Governor, Alh. Badaru Abubakar, thanked Mallam Inuwa Foundation for always supporting the less privilege, women and youths in the State.

Emir of Hadeija, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje, commended the efforts of the founder of Mallam Inuwa Foundation, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, for attracting development to Hadejia town and Jigawa State, in extension.

“We are proud of this Foundation. We are also proud of its founder. We have a worthy son that did not forget his people by addressing their demands. Kashifu is a model for all of us, from what we have seen,” Alh. Abubakar Maje said.

The dignitaries later inspected a piece of land allocated for building 50 Houses fir the needy, a school and a Mosque at Bariki, a few minutes drive from the Emir’s palace.

The building is part of the Qatar Charity support programmes and was facilitated by Mallam Inuwa Foundation.

The event was well attended by local government Chairmen, Commissioners and State Assembly members.

TECHDIGEST – No fewer than 486 people with cataracts have benefited from free eye surgery, together with medicines and eye glasses, in Jigawa State.

The project, sponsored by Qatar Foundation in collaboration with Malam Inuwa Foundation, was held at the Gumel General Hospital.

At least 200 persons out of the entire 486 received free eye glasses.

Then, about 286 people were given free medicines after a medical examination had detected their eye defects.

Some of the patients expressed their happiness and gratitude for the free eye service, while speaking to PRNigeria.

The Mallam Inuwa Foundation, which was initiated and sponsored by Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA also offered free eye treatments to a lot of people with sight defects in Jigawa State.

The medical outreach sponsored by the Inuwa Foundation is in collaboration with Qatar Charity foundation.

The eye treatment/care service holding in selected hospitals is supervised by eye medical experts with visitations by Board of Directors of the Qatar charity foundation at the outreach centre.
