TECHDIGEST – The NANONASENI Technology and the NASENI CertVeri System in Nigeria have been regarded by the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mal. Kashifu Inuwa, as a timely intervention that will aid Nigeria’s pursuit of the industrial revolution.

Mal Inuwa made this statement while approving the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI)request’s for partnership in order to deploy the NANONASENI Technology and the NASENI CertVeri System in Nigeria. Inuwa affirmed the Agency’s willingness to work with NASENI and praised the organization for developing the two novel solutions.

According to him, section 6 of NITDA’s enabling Act empowers it to regulate all information technology matters in the country and mandates it to clear all Information Technology (IT) Projects in line with the Federal Government’s policy objectives, ensuring maximum transparency and accountability in their implementation by public institutions.

“These initiatives are timely and we call for immediate actions in their implementation. So, we are ready to work with you to support you in any way to make sure we achieve this because achieving this initiative to us is like helping us also achieve our mandate,” the DG said. The planned Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) corporation, NANONASENI and the NASENI CertVeri System, would generate revenue for the country and increase the sector’s contribution to the nation’s GDP, among other benefits.

Meanwhile, NASENI’s Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna, has stated that the agency plans to initiate, develop, test, and launch the NASENI CertVeri System, which he believes will enable the Federal Government to provide professional and integrated certificate and document verification services to Nigerians anywhere, anytime, and whenever they need them, particularly at embassies around the world.

“The goal of assisting other organizations or institutions in verifying and authenticating papers for individuals in real-time is to leverage IoT to minimize document faking and improve trust and authenticity.”

While seeking collaboration with NITDA, the EVC stated that the mission is to critically engage on the needed solutions to problems such as internet fraud, cybercrime, terrorism attacks, insecurity, and certificate forgeries, all of which he noted have been difficult to address not only in Nigeria but also in other countries.
