UK-Nigeria Tech Hub says it has partnered with Network Incubators and Innovators in Nigeria to launch an impact accelerator — ‘Social Innovation Driven Entrepreneurship’ for social impact entrepreneurs.

According to a statement, those selected will join the UK-Nigeria Tech Hub founder pipeline and gain access to resources and network.

They will undergo a bespoke 16-week in-person and virtual training, from local tech hubs and business leaders, designed to equip them with the expertise needed to scale their impact while remaining profitable. Interested persons are advised to visit the sidenigeria website to apply.

The statement read in part, “In the build-up to the accelerator, NINE and Kaduna Business School developed a challenge brief to identify market and sector-specific gaps in Health, Climate change, Education and Food security affecting underserved populations in 6 pilot states in Nigeria – Edo State, Adamawa State, Kwara State, Kaduna State, Enugu State and Osun State.”

The UK-Nigeria Tech Hub is an initiative by the UK government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sports to support the growth of the Technology ecosystem in Nigeria.

TECHDIGEST – The UK-Nigeria Tech Hub, a pillar of the UK government’s broader Digital Access Program (DAP), has announced a collaboration with Google for Startups, Africa. 

As part of this collaboration, the two entities will award $3 million in Google Cloud credits to women founders in Nigeria. This support will subsidise cloud technology-related costs for startups, allowing them to focus on innovation, customer acquisition, and growth.

The joint effort by UK-Nigeria Tech Hub and Google for Startups Africa will help promote digital inclusion and jointly support technology businesses run by women founders.

 To commemorate International Women’s Day in March, the two organisations co-hosted an event in Lagos, today, bringing together women founders, investors, and ecosystem stakeholders. The event aims to help women founders understand the technology funding landscape and position themselves to secure funding for their startups.
