In a significant move toward technological advancement, the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology has officially partnered with Domineum/Edenbase UK for the development of Abuja Tech City.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in Abuja on Tuesday, with Minister Uche Nnaji representing the government.Minister Nnaji highlighted the collaborative foundation laid by the MoU, emphasizing its role in fostering technology transfer between the UK consortium and the federal government.

Drawing inspiration from the success of London Tech City, which generated over 61 billion pounds in its fifth year, Nnaji expressed optimism about replicating such success in Nigeria.

The ambitious Abuja Tech City aims to be a Free Trade Zone, a smart and green city housing tech-driven startups, industries, entertainment, schools, parks, and government initiatives.

Minister Nnaji announced that the same consortia responsible for the London Tech City’s development will spearhead the Abuja Tech City Ecosystem.

Originally conceived as Abuja Tech Village (ATV) under former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, the project gained renewed focus with recent plans unveiled by the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, alongside the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

During a visit to the site in Pyakassa, a vision was revealed to transform the area into a world-class technology hub comparable to London Tech City and Silicon Valley. The directive for illegal occupants to vacate the premises marked a crucial step in realizing the project’s potential, as emphasized by the Minister of FCT.

The compensation for the indigenous community since 2015 underscored the commitment to taking full possession of the land, marking the beginning of a transformative journey for the region.
