Microsoft is introducing a groundbreaking change to personal computer keyboards by adding the Copilot AI key, marking the first significant alteration in nearly three decades.

Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer, revealed this in a Thursday blog post, emphasizing the key’s debut on Windows 11 PCs this month.

Mehdi envisions a more personalized and intelligent computing future, stating that the Copilot key will simplify and enhance the user experience, making 2024 the “year of the AI PC.” Positioned to the right of the space bar, the Copilot key aims to seamlessly integrate AI into daily tasks, showcasing Microsoft’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence on the Windows platform.

Hardware partners will showcase Copilot-enabled Windows 11 computers at the CES technology conference, signaling a transformative moment in the intersection of AI and personal computing.
