TECH DIGEST – The President, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Mallam Mukhtar Sirajo has endorsed the Female-led Advocacy for Inter-ethnic Relations (FAIRER) Campaign aimed at preaching the gospel of peace and unity in Nigeria.
The endorsement was made when members of FAIRER paid him a courtesy call at NIPR Headquarters in Abuja.

The team leader of FAIRER, Zubaida Baba Ibrahim during her remarks said that security and communication are very key to their campaign and find it necessary to partner with NIPR towards the goal.

She said most of them members who are graduate of Mass Communication would also like to join the institute as members.

“FAIRER is advocating for security through effective communication because when citizens don’t have peace of mind within themselves, peaceful coexistence can’t be achieved.”

Mr. Sirajo who commended the young female advocates for embarking on the laudable initiative said that there is desperate need for collaboration from stakeholders across various ethnic groups towards maintaining peace and stability in the country.

He said: “You are on the right track at the right time with the right campaign that will add value to the society through this kind of Inter-ethnic relations activities.

“Nigeria is a great nation endowed with resources including vast agricultural lands, oil and mineral resources which make the heterogeneous nature of our societies the greatest potential for our greatness in a comity of nations.

“In view of such potentials, NIPR is planning to host a National Security Summit through the support and collaboration of professionals, civil society, youth, workers, students, socio-cultural and religious organizations,” he said

While promising to engage FAIRER team into sub-committees of the forthcoming Security Summit, he offered them NIPR membership forms. Another Fellow of the institute at the event, retired Brigadier General Sani Usman Kukasheka offered to pay their membership due at the  FCT Chapter.

Other senior members of NIPR during the visit included Dr.  Ike Neliaku, retired Commissioner of Police Ojukwu, Mr. Stanley Ogadigo and Mallam Yushau A. Shuaib

Members of FAIRER on the visit included Nafisa Bello, Chiamaka Asouzu and Sharon Olatunde.

TECH DIGEST – The Female Advocacy for Inter-Ethnic Relations (FARIER) has launched a social advocacy campaign aimed at fostering national peace and unity, among Nigerians.

Funded by MacArthur Foundation through the Penlight Centre for New Media and Innovation, the campaign was designed by Image Merchants Promotions (IMPR) Limited.

It will involve a session of media engagements to be led and facilitated by the Team Lead and Campaign Anchor of FAIRER, Zubaida Bala Ibrahim, Chiamaka Asuozu Glory.

Addressing a press conference on Monday in Abuja, Zubaida Ibrahim, said FAIRER campaign, which is a female-led advocacy for inter-ethnic relationships aimed at harnessing the values that unites Nigerians more than what divides, through coordinated media narratives and media actions for fostering peaceful coexistence and national unity which will be targeted at the youth, women, religious leaders and the government.

She said: “This campaign is not only aimed at national unity and security but to sustain it through bringing our targets attention to the positive aspects of the various ethnicities in Nigeria through opinion articles that we have already been writing and has been getting the needed attention, peace journalism, engaging in dialogue and social media counter-narratives.

“The sustenance will be aided through long-term partnerships with relevant organizations and stakeholders with monthly evaluations.”

According to the Team Lead of FAIRER, inter-ethnic conflicts have been the backbone of security challenges, unemployment, the inadequacy of basic amenities, poor healthcare system, bribery and corruption.

“So the main goal of our the campaign is to address some of these challenges through creating systems for inter-ethnic relationship, harmony and peaceful coexistence.”

In his goodwill remark, Mallam Jaafar Jaafar of the Penlight Centre and publisher of Daily Nigerian expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the female campaigners, saying FAIRER’s media crusade will greatly promote harmonious coexistence in the country.

Speaking through his Editorial Staff, Safiya Bello, Mallam Jaafar Jaafar said the initial campaign would be monitored and supported by the Centre through a recent grant from Mac Arthur Foundation.

TECH DIGEST – The Image Merchants Promotions Limited, IMPR, publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, has pioneered a female-led campaign for inter-ethnic relations to promote national unity and security across the country.

Coming under the sobriquet: Female Advocates for Inter-Ethnic Relations, FAIRER, the campaign is aimed at harnessing the values that unite Nigerians.

Speaking during an interactive session with stakeholders on Friday, heralding the launching of the campaign on Monday, the IMPR Director, Yushau Shuaib, disclosed that the campaign would be executed through coordinated media narratives and actions.

According to him, the campaign will go a long way in fostering peaceful coexistence among multi-ethnic groups in the country.

He said: “Nigeria most definitely cannot afford another civil war and we need to unite across ethnic and tribal lines to curtail this threat.

“The FAIRER campaign through peaceful and positive narratives for peaceful coexistence will serve as a rallying point to foster national unity and togetherness towards averting a dangerous descent to another Civil War.”

Also speaking, the campaign Team Lead, Zubaida Baba-Ibrahim, said the campaign would be centred around enlightening women folks on the need to collapse all barriers militating against peaceful coexistence among multiple ethnic groups in the country.

According to her, the campaign will also focus on rolling back what she described as a dangerous stereotyping of ethnic groups by creating awareness on national identity, cultural awareness, social inclusion and integration, equity and justice.

On his part, the Director of the Penlight Centre for New Media Innovation, Jaafar Jaafar, lauded the initiative, pledging to support the campaign with the necessary funding.

Represented by the Associate Editor of Daily Nigerian, Ibrahim Ramalan, the director said the country needed such initiatives that are aimed at enhancing national cohesion.

“This campaign is laudable and needed to be supported in whichever way possible. Penlight Centre, as a non-profit organization, will do everything within its means to support this initiative,” Mr Jaafar said.
