The Rebirth of Modern Transportation in Africa
By Segun Michael Adeyemi
TECHDIGEST – Transportation across the globe is a billion-dollar industry ranging from all sequences of mobility like aviation, rail, road, and water transportation.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), the United States GDP from transport has grossly seen an increase of $505 Billion in the third quarter of 2021 from $490.70 Billion in the second quarter of 2021.
Similarly, data gotten from the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria (NBS) revealed that Nigeria’s GDP from Transport decreased to N180 billion in the third quarter of 2021, as to the N209.8 billion from the second quarter of 2021.
Looking at all these stats, it is imperative to say that the African continent should begin to leverage more on other opportunities in the transport industry to further increase revenue and offer validated services to transport users.
In Europe and America, there are quite a lot of varieties of transport systems available to people. Asia and other developing nations have also not been left out in this cadre.
However, Africa seems to be gradually holding its own in the bid to foster development in the continent. Seamless to say, Nigeria is fast becoming an innovative developing State with the emergence of new innovations.

The predominant transport system for mobility in Nigeria is arguably limited to just motor vehicles, airlines, and waterway transport. And the most frequently used is the road transport system. However, they’re secondary means of motor vehicles aside from automobiles like motorbikes, tricycles, and bicycles.
Surprisingly, not known to many, there is an emerging secondary means of motor vehicle in your neighborhood and campuses called an ‘Electric Scooter’.
Electric Scooter is a micro-mobility vehicle that is powered by an electric motor that is capable of propelling the device with or without human propulsion at a speed of no more than 35 kilometers per hour on a paved level surface.
This long-lasting solution for mobility was initiated by an emerging micro-mobility tech company known as Trekk Scooters, making it the first micro-mobility company in West Africa.
Trekk Scooters saw the need to diversify mobility in Nigeria, which is stress-free, affordable, and reliable for commuters exclusively within estates and most especially campuses.
Often times it is believed that there’s no limit to endless possibilities that is birthed by creative thinking, innovation, and lasting solution.
Innovation they say is taking two things that exist and putting them together in a new way. Birthing new possibilities require an idea that is created from a drive that aids development. While others may refer to it as a ‘paradigm shift’, I call it ‘a break from the norm’.
With Trekk Scooters, you need not to para for your Okada rider or Keke driver, you have the opportunity to be in charge and explore your own mobility at an affordable, reliable, and risk-free service.
