TikTok Launches Global Youth Council to Amplify African Voices
TikTok, the popular short video platform, has taken a significant step towards amplifying African voices in digital spaces with the launch of its inaugural Global Youth Council. Comprised of 15 teenagers from around the world, including representatives from Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and Egypt, the council aims to advise TikTok on making its platform more inclusive and safer for African users.
The council’s mandate includes providing input on crucial issues such as online safety, digital inclusion, and content moderation, with a specific focus on the African context.
This move reflects TikTok’s commitment to empowering young people and ensuring they have a say in shaping the digital future.
