Twitter Prohibits Free Advertisement of Competing Social Media Platforms
TECHDIGEST- Twitter has announced that it would no longer allow free promotion of Facebook, Instagram, and other social networking sites. The introduction of revised Twitter policies, which stated that accounts that post links to other social media platforms, including as Facebook, Instagram, and Donald Trump’s Truth Social, will be prohibited.
The official Twitter Support account has updated its rules to state that it is no longer acceptable to “freely promote particular social media sites on Twitter.”
In particular, the statement said, “We will remove anything that contains links or usernames for the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr and Post, as well as profiles created exclusively to promote other social platforms.”

We continue to permit cross-posting of content from any social media site. The statement said, “Posting usernames or URLs to social media platforms not stated above is also not against this policy.
TikTok was not named among the competing social media sites that the platform would forbid.
Mastodon is a new social media platform. Earlier this week, Twitter declared that clickable links to it were “potentially dangerous” to users and could not be shared by Twitter users. The shift occurs as Twitter’s new CEO, Elon Musk, is making big changes to the social media network.
The most recent gold verification badge is one example. After his $8 blue subscription plan that allowed for user verification was cancelled due to fears that parody accounts were now paying for verification as well, he developed the gold-plated verification tag.
Additionally, Mr. Musk eliminated the prejudice against the device that users tweet from.
Last week, Mr. Musk disabled a number of accounts that were allegedly posting about him before reactivating them.
