The United Kingdom is seeking to expand the presence of Anthropic as tensions grow between the AI firm and the United States government.
According to reports, British officials are proposing incentives, including an expanded London office and a potential dual stock listing to attract the company.
The move follows a dispute between Anthropic and the U.S. Defense Department over the use of its AI chatbot, Claude, for military applications. The company was subsequently blacklisted by U.S. authorities as a national security risk, a decision temporarily blocked by a judge.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s administration is expected to engage Anthropic leadership further during a planned visit by CEO Dario Amodei.
