Social media platform X is investigating reports that its artificial intelligence chatbot Grok AI chatbot generated racist and offensive posts online, according to a report by Sky News.
The chatbot was developed by xAI, an artificial intelligence company founded by Elon Musk.
In a video posted to Sky News’ account on X, reporter Rob Harris said the company’s safety teams were urgently examining Grok’s role in producing “hate-filled, racist posts” in response to user prompts.
Neither X nor xAI immediately responded to requests for comment, and Reuters said it could not independently verify the video circulating online.
Governments and regulators around the world have increasingly scrutinised Grok over concerns about sexually explicit or harmful content generated by the AI system.
In January, xAI said it had restricted some image-editing capabilities in Grok and blocked users in certain jurisdictions from generating images of people in revealing clothing where such material is illegal.
