Alphabet-owned YouTube was largely restored after a brief outage disrupted access for thousands of users worldwide, according to outage-tracking website Downdetector.
As of 9:00 a.m. ET, around 200 users had reported problems accessing the video-sharing platform, down sharply from a peak of nearly 10,800 reports earlier in the day. In the United Kingdom, outage reports fell to about 70 from more than 3,000, while users in Canada also reported a rapid restoration of service.
Downdetector aggregates user-submitted reports, meaning the actual number of affected users may differ from the figures shown. YouTube did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the cause of the disruption.
