COVID-19: NITDA to create 150,000 jobs for innovative Nigerian youth — Inuwa
NEWS DIGEST – The Director -General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, has disclosed that the agency is targeting to create 150,000 jobs for the innovative Nigerian youths through various platforms open to youths for participation.
Mr Inuwa made the disclosure during a town hall webinar organize by African Youth Resource Centre, on the social and economic impact of COVID-19 on youths.
The programme was monitored through zoom in Abuja.
The DG, therefore, urged Nigerian Youth to utilize the opportunities abound in the coronavirus pandemic by becoming proactive and innovative in their endeavours.
The director-general also advised youths to embrace digital technology and unlock their abundant opportunities, especially in the information technology and agriculture.
He added that the youths should be proactive in learning new skills by doing positive things that would enable them compete favourably with their counterparts globally.
Mr Inuwa disclosed that NITDA was targeting to create 150,000 jobs for the innovative Nigerian youths through various platforms open to youths for participation.

Such platforms, he said, include Virtual Start up Clinics for youths who intend starting up business, Virtual Learning Platforms for Education and Skill Acquisition where about 47 courses are being treated.
According to him, NITDA is collaborating with Universities, Governments Agencies, Innovators, Risk Capitalists and Corporate Organizations to ensure the successful implementation and achievement of Digital economy desired in Nigeria.
“NITDA has provided these platforms to enlighten youths on how to maximize the opportunities in digital economy,” Mr Inuwa added.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of the African Youth Resource Centre, Ben Duntoye, organizers of the virtual meeting, said that youths were the sustainable hope of any nation, especially at this critical times of COVID-19.
He said the event was organized as part of the Centre’s strategy to mitigate the impact of Covid-19 on on the Nigerian Youth
The executive director commended Mr Inuwa for his proactiveness and making NITDA youth friendly.
Mr Duntoye said the future of work would change and Nigerian youths, adding that they must not to be caught unawares.
The town hall webinar had 236 youths and stakeholders participants across the country and Nigerians in diaspora in attendance.
Other high level Panelists at the forum include ;the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare and the Minister of State FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, who were both ably represented.
