FG Introduces Digital Reform Tracker for MDAs
The Federal Government will issue a service-wide circular directing Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to adopt newly launched digital reform tools designed to strengthen monitoring, accountability and service delivery across the public service.
This was disclosed on Tuesday in Abuja by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, represented by his Technical Adviser, Prof. Bernard Babatunde Bolaji, during the official launch of three Federal Government reform applications — the Reform Tracker Dashboard, Knowledge Repository, and National Strategy for Public Service Reform (NSPSR) Dashboard.
Bolaji, who delivered the SGF’s remarks, described the platforms as an integrated digital ecosystem that would transform how reforms are monitored, documented and communicated throughout the public service.
“Shortly after the launching of these tools, a service-wide circular will be sent to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on the need to liaise with the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) on the application of these digital tools,” the SGF said.
According to him, the three platforms demonstrate the Federal Government’s commitment to building a transparent, accountable, technology-driven and results-oriented public service capable of delivering quality services to Nigerians in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Akume explained that the Reform Tracker Dashboard would provide a credible and reliable mechanism for monitoring reform milestones, implementation timelines and key performance indicators across MDAs, enabling government institutions to track progress more effectively.
He noted that the Knowledge Repository would serve as the Federal Government’s central digital library for reform-related policies, strategies, reports, guidelines and case studies, helping to preserve institutional memory, reduce duplication and promote evidence-based policymaking.
The SGF added that the NSPSR Dashboard would provide a live visual representation of the implementation of the National Strategy for Public Service Reform, allowing policymakers to monitor progress across strategic pillars, identify implementation gaps and make informed decisions.
He urged all MDAs to embrace the new digital tools as instruments for monitoring and evaluating achievements in public service delivery, stressing that they would enhance efficiency and effectiveness in governance.
Akume further disclosed that the Bureau of Public Service Reforms had been mandated to conduct impact assessments on the use of the platforms by MDAs to determine compliance levels and evaluate their effectiveness after the issuance of the circular.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), Dr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, said the launch of the platforms represented a significant step towards institutionalising reform implementation and strengthening governance through digital innovation.
According to him, while successive governments have introduced numerous reform initiatives, the absence of a unified mechanism for tracking implementation, measuring impact and preserving institutional knowledge has often undermined their effectiveness.
“Today’s event is not merely about unveiling technology. It is about strengthening governance through innovation. It is about providing government with practical instruments that will ensure reforms are not only initiated but effectively implemented, measured and sustained,” Arabi said.
He explained that the Reform Tracker Dashboard would move reform management away from periodic paper-based reporting to continuous digital performance monitoring, thereby improving accountability and ensuring that reform initiatives are measured against agreed timelines.
On the Knowledge Repository, the DG noted that the platform was developed to address the recurring challenge of institutional memory loss within the public service, where critical reports, policy documents and reform records are often lost or become inaccessible following changes in leadership.
Arabi said the NSPSR Dashboard would provide executive-level analytics on strategic reform priorities, implementation status and sectoral performance, enabling decision-makers to identify gaps and take corrective action promptly.
He stressed that the three platforms, though designed for different functions, are fully integrated and would collectively provide government with a comprehensive reform management ecosystem capable of improving transparency, coordination, evidence-based decision-making and policy implementation.
The BPSR DG also recommended the establishment of dedicated Executive Reform Tracker Dashboards in both the Office of the President and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to provide real-time visibility into reform implementation across all MDAs.
He said such executive dashboards would enable national leadership to monitor performance, identify bottlenecks early and make timely decisions to accelerate the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The launch of the three platforms marks a major milestone in the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda and broader efforts to build a modern, innovative and performance-driven public service that delivers measurable results for Nigerians.
