A humanoid robot developed by Honor has completed a half-marathon in Beijing in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, a time faster than the current human world record of 57 minutes set by Jacob Kiplimo.
However, the comparison remains unofficial, as robot performances are not measured under the same competitive conditions or classification standards as human races.
The result nonetheless marks a major leap in robotics, improving significantly from last year’s fastest robot time of over two hours and highlighting rapid advancements in autonomous mobility.
Organisers noted that the winning robot completed the race autonomously, unlike another faster model that finished in 48 minutes but was remotely controlled and therefore excluded from the top position.
The event reflects growing progress in artificial intelligence and robotics, as developers continue to push machines closer to human-level endurance and performance.
