X, formerly Twitter, has introduced a new feature that allows users to respond to posts with video reactions directly from their timelines as part of its efforts to boost video engagement on the platform.

The feature, called “React with Video,” was announced by X’s Head of Product, Nikita Bier, in a post on Monday.

According to Bier, users can now create video responses by tapping the repost button on iOS devices. The feature supports multiple formats, including green screen, split-screen, and picture-in-picture modes, enabling users to add visual commentary to existing posts.

“Commentary is one of the most important pillars of X. And sometimes the best way to share your thoughts is with video,” Bier said.

The new tool allows users to overlay their reactions on original content, creating a more interactive viewing experience. Industry analysts say the feature resembles video response formats popularised by platforms such as TikTok and other short-form video services.

The launch forms part of X’s broader strategy to strengthen its position as a creator-focused platform and increase user engagement through video content.

The company has increasingly invested in video features as competition intensifies across the social media industry, where video has become one of the dominant forms of online communication.
