Meta has launched Muse Image, a new artificial intelligence image generation model developed by its Meta Superintelligence Labs, expanding the company’s suite of AI-powered creative tools across its platforms.

The feature is available through the Meta AI app, Instagram Stories, and WhatsApp, allowing users to generate and edit images using natural language prompts.

Meta said Muse Image supports a range of creative tasks, including generating original images, editing existing photos, removing unwanted objects, creating functional QR codes and visualising design ideas such as home décor.

The model also includes preset prompts to help users generate images without having to write detailed instructions.

In addition, Meta has integrated Muse into Instagram Stories, where it powers new AI effects and customizable filters for photos.

One of the feature’s capabilities allows users to generate AI images using photos from public Instagram accounts by tagging the account holder. According to Meta, users can disable the feature through their privacy settings if they do not want their public content to be used in this way.

The company said the feature is available free for everyday use, with subscription plans applying once users exceed specified usage limits.

Meta also confirmed that Muse Video, an AI-powered video generation tool, is currently under development.

The launch forms part of Meta’s broader AI strategy, which has seen the company introduce products including the Meta AI assistant, the Pocket AI game creation app, and generative AI features across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
